Link to Graduated Approach to Upset Prevention and Recovery TrainingWe found an interesting article in AeroSafety World describing the current vision of ICATEE, the International Committee for Aviation Training in Extended Envelopes, regarding Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT).  The article by Wayne Rosenkrans in the June 2012 edition of AeroSafety World, describes a three-pronged approach that includes classroom academics, simulators, and on-aircraft training.

The article details the rationale for on-aircraft training in an aerobatic-capable platform.  It presents the psychological component that is absent from even the best simulator training.  It also highlights the ongoing efforts to improve simulator realism in the stalled flight region.
